Assignment Instructions

How do you present assignments to your students? I find that breaking assignments down into their individual steps, and providing an estimated time for each step to be completed, can really help with the executive functioning needs of students.

I’ve made the tool below to help with this. Just type in the assignment you want students to complete (provide as much or as little information as you want) and then hit ‘Format Assignment’. You’ll then be presented with a scaffold for your assignment that you can provide to your class.

For example, your assignment might be something like this: Students should sketch the night sky from their yards or somewhere outside. They should focus on the phases of the moon and the Southern Cross constellation. Students should sketch at least eight nights across the following two weeks. Sketches should be as detailed as possible.
